I tried to keep the polycount as conservative as possible, so the total face count for all the little bits and pieces inside (as well as the main helmet) ended up being 1,592.

Wow! Looks totally awesome. I love the straps on the inside of the helmet.
The edge contour is a bit off. I'll add a reference pic to your post that shows a side view.
